MyxerFlix™ Launches to Let Anyone Deliver Video to Mobile Phones
Eliminates Technical and Business Development Hurdles of Mobile Video Distribution
Opening Up Marketplace to Millions of Content Distributors and Viewers
(DEERFIELD BEACH, FL) - Myxer™, the best place to make and share mobile content,
today announced the launch of MyxerFlix™, a new service that radically simplifies
the delivery of video to mobile phones. MyxerFlix does away with the complex and
costly hurdles that content owners previously had to negotiate to bring mobile video
to market, allowing existing video assets to be delivered to a worldwide mobile
audience in just minutes. This addition to the proven Myxer platform makes mobile
video possible for independent film producers, advertisers, video distribution
websites and anyone with existing video assets.
MyxerFlix is the first service of its kind, opening up the mobile video market to
all content owners, not just those with direct ties to the mobile carriers and
large production houses. Content owners simply upload the video to the Myxer
website (www.myxer.com)
in any common format, place a MyxerTag on their own web
page or MySpace profile, and the video is instantly available to any mobile user
on any carrier’s network. They can give the video away for free or charge a
download fee.
“There’s a lot of buzz around mobile video, especially surrounding video ringtones
and projects like Sundance's Global Short Film Project, but the reality is it’s
still incredibly difficult for anyone to distribute mobile video content to a wide
audience without the backing of a major studio or distribution company,” said Myk
Willis, founder and chief technology officer of mVisible Technologies, Inc., the
company behind Myxer. “MyxerFlix changes that by making the process incredibly
simple and eliminating the need for distribution deals, special carrier agreements,
working with aggregators, and dealing with the format standardization issues of
multiple mobile devices. We’re eliminating complexity, allowing anyone with video
content to go mobile in no time.”
MyxerFlix works with any common internet video format, including Windows Media,
QuickTime, and MPEG, and automatically repackages it appropriately for any
video-capable mobile phone. The end user does not need any special contract or
service agreement with their carrier to download and view the video.
MyxerFlix comes on the heels of last week’s announcement of MyxerMagic™, a free
download that lets users send any online image to their mobile phone right from
their existing web browser. MyxerMagic eliminates the need for file downloads,
format conversions, serial or Bluetooth connections, and other tedious operations
that have previously been required to get content to mobile phones.
“Myxer is about simplifying mobile content delivery,” added Willis. “Everything
we do is centered around making content delivery in the mobile world as accessible
as it is on the Internet.”
MyxerFlix is the latest addition to the Myxer portfolio, which is designed to
simplify the creation and delivery of mobile content. Independent creators of
music, ringtones, images and more can now quickly and easily make, share and
sell to the mobile marketplace. Myxer’s stronghold is the independent music
industry, where thousands of independent artists and their fans communicate and
share content using the internet and mobile phones. Myxer is well positioned,
with leading research predicting that global mobile music revenues will top
$13.7 billion this year, with that number reaching $32 billion by 2010.
Worldwide mobile music phone sales will reach 618 million units in 2007, and
push towards $1 billion by 2010.
